Creating A World That Works-Racial Harmony

Thursday, February 16th 9:00 PM

This documentary series produced byWorld10 appreciates that the value of a person-and the opportunities that person represents to enrich the lives of others-is not related to skin color. World10 strives to engage as many diverse people as possible in its initiative-and draw down on their unique abilities to contribute.

Dr. Martin Luther King observes, in his essay, “I say to myself that hate is too great a burden to bear. I have decided to love. If you are seeking the highest good, I think you can find it through love. He who hates does not know God, but he who loves has the key that unlocks the door to the meaning of ultimate reality.” It has been noted that man is the only creature that hates. In the individual sphere of influence, World10 should attempt to have its participants realize and imbibe the reality that “hate” destroys the joy in living-and “love” enriches it.

Jimmie encounters camaraderie and competition in his best friends Bill Blair and Fred Harb. Together, their antics lay the groundwork for one of the most lucrative sports in the world. As racing’s popularity rises, the boys witness tragedy and unscrupulous business practices until one man’s vision to legitimize the sport offers them the chance of a lifetime.

From hauling moonshine on warm North Carolina evenings to marriage and fatherhood, the stakes are raised when the U.S. enters World War II and Jimmie must prove himself an honorable man on the battlefield, the track and at home. Restless Josie, Mondays, 5:30 PM ET:

Inspired by an adventurous case of wanderlust, the TV show Restless Josie takes viewers to the world’s most exciting destinations and events. The first season rode bucking bulls at the Calgary Stampede and Pacific swells at Canada’s surf capital Tofino. The 30 minute episodes mix of adventure athlete profile, travel, food, drink, music and more. One of the first episodes takes in Vancouver Island’s Comox Valley for a music festival, freeride mountain bike competition and a stand up paddle board race. Another tags along with Canada’s top climber as he scales a route without a rope in Squamish. Through it all Boulding acts as guide, host and comedic foil, trying everything from riding a chuckwagon to surfing, sometimes with hilarious results. In each destination she visits restaurants, tours attractions, hits the beach, stops for coffee, chats with locals and even helps harvest dinner. To add flow and colour, the show’s soundtrack taps the Canadian music scene. But it’s the athletes and their risk taking behaviour that makes the show absorbing. Throughout season one Boulding surrounds herself with athletes at the pinnacle of their sport. Kelly Slater and other top surfers steal the show in New York. Snowboard sensation Travis Rice risks it all.  Sonnie Trotter, one of the world’s best climbers, and high flying Brendan Seminuk, a top freestyle mountain biker, also make feature appearances. Cheese rollers, beach volleyball players, freestyle motocross acrobats and kite surfing sailors keep the show moving and fun to watch.
